What a well written, deeply stirring piece. I applaud your courage for going into that country at that time as an investigative journalist. Not many could have done it.
Sold a pair of jeans to young lady probably student few weeks ago ( Best Charity Shop in the World ) & noticed the tag said " Made in Cambodia ". I said " These were made by Pol Pot ". She hadn't a Scooby - Generally find that No Young People Read or Watch anything from before their era. I watched all old films in Black & White and read widely. TV showed repeats from years ago . When I tell them ( Not just the Young ) they all say " That's very Interesting " & some men often say " Can I Shake your Hand ? "
